IPALS was created to focus research expertise on reducing the burden of unintentional injury across all ages in Canada. We are researchers, policy-makers and consumer organizations who want to position Canada as a leader in injury research and prevention. [ more about us... ]
The purpose of IPALS (Injury Prevention Across the Life Span) is to develop and enhance collaboration and disseminate information between injury researchers. The Vision of the Injury Prevention Across the Life Span (IPALS) team - a multi-disciplinary, multi-sectoral research team - is to reduce the burden of unintentional injury in Canada.
The aim of this research is to reduce the burden of injury in Canada. Research objectives are:
- To examine injury occurrence across the life span using a population health framework;
- To quantify the influence of individual (micro) and contextual (macro) level factors on injury occurrence;
- In three populations - Child, Workforce, and Older Adults.
IPALS Symposium
The theme of the inaugural IPALS symposium held in October 2004 was interdisciplinary collaboration. This event allowed IPALS team members to network and forge new relationships with researchers from the Ontario Training Centre, the Alberta Centre for Injury Research and Control at the University of Alberta, Lakehead University and Queens University. A second symposium was held in September 2006. Read full symposium summary here.
